Vacation rentals with breakfast in Armamar

This was a dream vacation - we had just moved to Portugal and spent 2 weeks getting setup. We wanted a quiet week as a family to rest before school started. This place was perfect: perched on a mountainside in the middle of vines, the space was quiet, peaceful and beautifully designed and appointed. Paulo, the husband, is an architect who refurbishes vintage designer furniture. Teyna, the wife, is an amazing chef. Her breakfasts (included) we delicious and the dinners they offer in their adjoining restaurant and well crafted and tasty. Their place is pet friendly - we brought our dog, and they have a dog, two cats and two birds. We did outings to Porto, nearby Roman ruins, historic villages and swam in the rivers running through them. It was delightful.

Our stay at Lugar das Letras was nothing short of magical. This beautifully restored house, once an old school, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding vineyards—a true feast for the eyes. The rooms and bedrooms were incredibly comfortable, thoughtfully designed to make us feel at home. But what made our experience truly unforgettable were Carla and Paula, the two wonderful ladies who took care of every detail. Every morning, they prepared a memorable breakfast for our entire family, filled with warmth and care. Their kindness and hospitality turned our stay into a dream. We can’t wait to return to this little slice of paradise in the Douro Valley. Highly recommended!

Nuno’s place exceeded our expectations. It has a beautiful balcony with a view over the Douro river. The pool area is peaceful and breakfast provided was an added bonus. Nuno was very helpful and provided us with great recommendations for wine tasting and spots to visit. The apartment is spacious, clean and has a small kitchen which we were able to use to cook in the evenings.

Staying with Paolo was truly one of the most heartwarming experiences we’ve ever had on our travels. From the moment we arrived, he welcomed us not just as guests, but like old friends or even family. He spoiled us with delicious local wine, amazing cheese, a comforting homemade soup, and the most wonderful cake—but more than anything, he shared his warmth, kindness, and genuine care. Every detail of our stay was infused with love. Paolo went above and beyond in every way, and his hospitality made us feel deeply at home. It wasn’t just a place to sleep—it was a place to feel held and cherished. If you’re lucky enough to stay with Paolo, you’re in for something truly special. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour ! Tout était parfait. L’hôte a été très flexible pour les horaires d’arrivée et de départ, et toujours disponible et serviable dès que nous avions besoin de quelque chose. La maison était extrêmement bien équipée, il ne manquait absolument rien. Nous recommandons vivement !

Casa impecável, limpa, bem equipada com roupas de camas, toalhas, aquecedores em todos ambientes. Uma vista linda, os anfitriões super solícitos, levaram pães frescos todas manhãs da estadia. Tinha café, leite e manteiga disponíveis também. A casa super aconchegante, eu e minha família adoramos os dias passados lá. Recomendo de olhos fechados

Adorei ficar em Vila Coura, ficaria outra vez definitivamente. A Célia foi encantadora, muito prestável. Deu-nos facilidade para fazer o check-in à hora que nos conviesse, explicou-nos tudo direitinho sobre o espaço, os pequenos-almoços, etc, mostrou-se super disponível para atender a qualquer um dos nossos pedidos a qualquer hora. O quarto era muito confortável, limpo e bonito. Tínhamos lenha para acender a lareira e tivemos um ambiente super agradável. A água é bem quente também e a cama super confortável. Recomendo vivamente!

Maria, nos recebeu muito bem. Tomou cuidados como o vinho do Porto, geladeira e armário repletos de comidas. Nos deu explicações e dicas da cidade. Adoramos sua recepção!

This was a perfect location to enjoy Porto. Right on the river with a view of the bridge. The apartment was wonderful, clean, well appointed and decorated. We would stay here again!

Clean, roomy and comfortable apartment. Great patio. Very good communication. Paula was at the apartment on our arrival to introduce the apartment. A nice port and cookies were provided gratis, which was appreciated. Breakfast provided every morning was tasty and convenient. Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay with Jean and Luz. The apartment is beautiful, lovely decor and furnishings and is meticulously looked after and cleaned. The area is great. Many shops and restaurants very close, plus an easy walk to the historic district of Porto. Jean offered to assist us with restaurants and activities. I took him up on this & actually contacted him a couple nights before we checked in at his place. He made recommendations and set us up for dinner and show reservations - way beyond what I expected. When we arrived, he showed us around the neighborhood and walked through the area with us on a map. Both Jean and his wife Luz are great hosts! We'll be back!

De passage pour un mariage au Portugal, nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour. Hôte très accueillant, propreté irréprochable, hôte très serviable. Nous avons passés un très bon séjour.

Passei dois dias magníficos com a minha família à Casa dos Vinhais. O anfitrião, o José, é muito simpático, atento e prestável e fomos optimamente recebidos por ele. A casa é realmente especial com os móveis e louças antigas da família com a sala muito agradável e os quartos muito queridos. Aqui sente-se e respira-se a história. A vista da casa para o rio Douro é linda e nós não pudemos aproveitar para banhar no rio mas, nos meses mais quentes, daria para aproveitar bem o exterior. Podemos pedir para fazer o jantar lá em casa e o bacalhau com natas e a alheira preparado pelo José e Graça foi divinal. Para além disso, o pequeno-almoco está incluído na estadia e é mesmo delicioso! Espero voltar de novo aqui a esta casa. Obrigada por tudo!

Quinta da Xandica, located just outside of Valença do Douro village, was a fantastic, and unique experience. It’s rare these days to find an Airbnb hosted by a “real” (boots on the ground) host who is not only there to share local knowledge and accommodates your needs, but literally who also welcomes you in to the ACTUAL family home. It reminded me of a traditional bed and breakfast, in all of the best ways. (Including a lovely breakfast in a dining room!!!) The Quinta was home to Matilde”s great grandfather, and is shared today with her grandmother and father (three generations). It’s a working farm, and an all around charming, beautiful place. Even during our unseasonably rainy visit, the grounds and area was stunning. Practically speaking, the bed was comfortable & the water hot. Dinner made by Matilde was a reasonably priced and delicious with estate wine. We also thoroughly interaction with other guests, the chipped dog, “Bill”, and access to the surrounding area. A treasure!

Cidalia’s place was outstanding. Beautiful room, and amazing views. Gorgeous pool right above Douro. Dary Cidalia’s son was super helpful with every small request. He is a chef, and the breakfast he served was not only delicious with a huge variety, but also beautifully served. Hôte très accueillante qui s’est adapté à notre langue (français) et nous l’en remercions. Logement très agréable et décoré avec soin (décorations typiques et personnelles). Le coin petit déjeuner très sympa et intimiste est un plus 🙂

Loved everything about this place. Inês was a wonderful host, she was friendly and welcoming, ensuring our stay was comfortable from start to finish. The property is a beautiful oasis, perfect for a countryside retreat. I couldn’t recommend this place more (If I could give 6 stars, I would!)

There are very few places that can live up to the moniker of a truly special location. It take a rare blend of a thoughtful beautiful space, impeccable service, and genuine/ super friendly hosts. My only regret about writing this review is that I am sure once people discover this gem I will find it very difficult to find an available opening again as it is sure to be in high demand. Enrico and his entire family are the perfect hosts, the included simple breakfast of fresh bread, yogurt, fruit and assorted cheese is such a nice treat to wake up to every morning and partake in their amazing Dining Room. I can't recommend highly enough trying their tasting dinner in the evening, as Enrico apparently is a 1 start rated Michelin Chef and the food is amazing. Even if you don't book a room to stay in you should go to the restaurant one evening if you are in Porto. My room was spotless, very comfortable and beautifully laid out. Super Comfortable Bed as well. This place is special.
