Mary is an excellent host. She responded in minutes, often in real time to any questions we had. She always had wonderful suggestions, and her knowledge of Lake Attilan’s villages is superb. We really appreciated her help. The house is a bird lovers dream. A large tree on the side of the huge picture windows is a bird magnet and we loved getting up early to watch and listen. When I sent her a picture of a bird, she responded with pictures of possible birds from a book, immediately. The view is fabulous! The house is tidy, clean and well supplied. San Marcos is such a chill place to stay. The stroll down to the boats is a pleasure and we enjoyed it immensely. This is a place we could return to easily.

Carlos was a great host making our (late) arrival very smooth. It is a great place to spend 3-4 days and easy to walk to the main village. Carlos made also good recommendations and facilitate transportation with drivers. Thanks Carlos!

The house, the lake, the views, the staff…all absolutely incredible! The house is ideally located within 5-10 mins walking or quick tuk tuk to San Marcos, and equipped with everything you need - pool, hottub, kayaks, loads of cooking supplies, more than enough towels etc. The rooms were huge, beds comfy and the caretakers available to help with anything and everything. The hosts were super responsive and the chef for hire cooked amazing meals. San Marcos has the cleanest water for swimming, and the national park with cliffs to jump or swim from is just a short walk or kayak away. The entire stay, just like the lake, was magical for our family of 5 (2 adults, 9 yo, two 7 yos) and not one we will ever forget!

Stunning location, even better than the photos. As others have warned: it is a hike up and down but so very worth it. We carried our own luggage and felt it was doable. It is situated between San Marcos and Tzununa, 15 min walk to Tzununa and about 30 min to San Marcos. Tuktuks do pass at times but not always available. We could order in dinner one night which was delivered and it was delicious. Owner is extremely responsive and helpful. This was an amazing and peaceful end to our stay at Lake Atitlan. Would 10000% recommend.

I had a beautiful and peaceful stay at Casa Karin. The space is cozy, clean, and full of lovely touches that make it feel like home. Todo con el alojamiento muy bien, nonhay ninguna queja, pero si tuve varios inconvenientes como por ejemplo, la llegada al lugar por estar varias vías cerradas por remodelaciones de las mismas, las cuales por lo mismo es demasiado el polvo en el lugar. El garge muy alto para carros bajos el cual tuve que dejarlo en la calle, tal vez se pueda mejor en un futuro eso, pero definitivamente volvería a hospedarme en dicho alojamiento, esperando en un futuro ya no tener ninguno de los inconvenientes mencionados.

Great place for big families, host’s attention was awesome and always ready to help us. Had some issues either the hot water but she helped us fix it. The stove ran out of gas but she arrived within 20 minutes with new tank. Loved the stay for me and my fam!

This home is unreal! The scenery is breathtaking and the home is beautiful, it looks just like the pictures. There are about three flights of stone steps you have to climb to get to it which is a little tricky especially with luggage, but not too bad. It is a little hard to find at first bc the dock is not a main stop for the boats but they still stop by if you flag them down. There were a lot of spiders inside but it’s to be expected bc it’s built into nature. There’s not much around it but you can take a tuk tuk to San Marcos for more food options. During our stay the power did go out for majority of 1 night but apparently that’s not a common occurrence. The host was very responsive which is great. All in all I would definitely recommend, it’s a 10/10!
