The Covered Bridge Cottage started out in the 1800’s as a mill office and over the years was converted into a home through several additions. The house has been in our family for close to a century and it was our honor to restore it to a comfortable, energy efficient, durable home.

A screened-in porch features a combination of seating options, including a reclining chair and a sofa, along with a table set for four. Natural light filters through the screens, providing a view of the trees outside. A decorative lantern adds a touch of warmth.

Our goal was to create a cozy and quiet place to relax in or as a home base for checking out the area. Most of Lancaster Co. is less than a 30 min. drive away. A cafe, pizza shop and ice cream shop (the best!) are about 1/2 mile away. Many more are close by in the town of Ephrata or just a few miles farther in the town of Lititz-home of Wilbur chocolate. You will have your own space in our home, but separated by a locked door.

10/10 recommend staying at Joanns place for short or long term stays. The bedrooms and living space area was so clean and tidy and homey. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. My friend and I were so excited to see the keurig and coffee k cups provided along with some snacks and other drinks :). The folder filled with recommendations for meals or visits was perfect as we were gonna need a place to eat breakfast. Joann and her husband are friendly and welcoming. They give you the privacy you need or want while also letting you know they are only a holler away if you need anything or just wanna chat it up. I will definitely be staying here again when Im in the area.

We were so excited to find this beautiful home! The layout is perfect and we loved the upstairs suite. Shanelle has decorated this home with the finest quality products for her guest. The view of their home and the Christmas Tree Farm was amazing. We also met the goats & chickens. We will definitely recommend this home and can’t thank the owners for making us feel so welcomed.

Daniel was very warm and friendly, and really fun to talk to. I've used this platform for most of my travels ever since it was created, so it is easy for me to distinguish between hosts that are just making good use of their extra space and those who are genuinely interested in meeting new people. In consideration of their Amish lifestyle, I think it is exceptional that they embrace the opportunity to meet and open their home to so many people of diverse backgrounds. Our group of 4 had a great experience getting to know them, and I hope that all of their guests will embrace the opportunity to do so as well, rather than miss that opportunity in favor of sleeping arrangements only. It's a very serene setting, where there is plenty of opportunity to view horse and buggies go by without suffering through the noise that would be associated with a house on a main road. Centrally located within 10 min to Lititz, Lancaster, Strasbourg and B-in-H. And perhaps you'll get to try a golden egg!
